Providing the space to become yourself

As Children develop they may need extra support to cope with the challenges of life.

FAIR's Children's Team understands this and the need to provide supported space in which young people can express themselves.

Parents are welcome to come and talk to staff so that FAIR can understand and respond to the individual needs of families.

After School Club

At FAIR there are three sessions throughout the week during term time for pupils. Each has its own age range and runs from 3:30pm until 5pm.

Referrals for places are received from schools, social workers, parents, paediatricians and young people.

All children are supervised by our fully trained and experienced staff and volunteers. These have all undergone enhanced level checks with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).

FAIR After School Clubs give children opportunities to make new friends and interact with others in a safe and fun filled environment.

Staff from the Children’s Team will also work with identified children on supporting them through the transition from primary to senior school. This work can be carried out at the After School Club sessions but will mainly take place in the school to which they are transferring.

FAIRPlay

This provides opportunities to participate in activities and days out with their families during school holidays.

Previous outings have included trips to Whipsnade Zoo, the Pantomime at the Derngate and the ‘Think Tank’.

There are also times when the children can come unaccompanied and take part in sessions supervised by our staff. These include activities such as canoeing, ice skating and themed days based at FAIR.

FAIR gives the children opportunities to engage in new experiences.

Social Skills Workshops
Referrals are usually made to FAIR by Head Teachers with the permission of the parent/guardian. In some circumstances parents may wish to make a direct referral to FAIR following a consultation with school staff.

These workshops are designed to boost children’s self esteem and confidence using worksheets activities and games. Activities are designed to encourage children involved in the sessions to work as a team. These sessions can help children make new friends or strengthen existing relationships.

Children’s Team staff can also be involved in supporting families as required and attending school meetings.

FAIR provides a supervised environment for children to go to after school.

FAIRPlay is for children who attend FAIR ’s After School Club and also for other referred children including those with disabilities.

Social Skills Workshops work alongside children who may need support with developing social skills needed throughout life.
